WHY I DESERVE THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY EXCELLENCE AWARD Nominee: Abdullahi Dube I believe I deserve the Tourism and Hospitality Excellence Award because I am a hardworking, ambitious, and dedicated young person who believes in the power of tourism and hospitality to transform lives, create employment, and promote our community. Coming from Lamu County, a region blessed with rich cultural heritage, beautiful coastal scenery, historical sites, and unique traditions, I understand the importance of protecting and promoting our tourism potential. I believe tourism is more than welcoming visitors; it is about creating memorable experiences, showing genuine hospitality, preserving our culture, and making every visitor feel valued and appreciated. My journey is driven by determination, a willingness to learn, and a strong desire to contribute to the development of my community. I believe that success comes through hard work, discipline, teamwork, respect, and a commitment to serving others. I am passionate about seeing young people become active participants in tourism and hospitality rather than remaining on the sidelines while opportunities pass them by. I want to see Lamu County become an even more attractive destination where visitors can experience our culture, discover our natural beauty, enjoy our hospitality, and support local businesses. I believe that empowering local youth, promoting cultural heritage, supporting community-based tourism, and encouraging entrepreneurship can create meaningful opportunities for our people. For me, excellence is not simply about receiving recognition. It is about the impact we make, the people we inspire, and the positive change we bring to society.
